TUSAŞ and ITU set Aeronautics and Astronautics design laboratory

The Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Turkish Aerospace Industry (TUSAŞ) have set up the Aeronautic and Astronautic Vehicles Design Laboratory. ITU rector Professor Dr Ismail Koyuncu and TUSAŞ General Manager, Professor Dr Temel Kotil, attended the opening ceremony.

Kotil mentioned the importance of university-industry cooperation and said, “Thank you for this laboratory. It’s an important part of the university-industry collaboration. Our university-trained engineers will join us for our domestic and national initiatives. We, the TUSAŞ, have arrived at the heart of the operation. We believe it is critical to develop engineers who can make real contributions to the sector. In this lab, they will be able to develop themselves and add value to large projects.” In addition, Kotil remarked that it would be advantageous to provide collaboration in national projects where around 3 thousand engineers work.

Professor Koyuncu, Rector of ITU, remarked that they regarded their students as potential architects, engineers, designers, and artists from the first day they came into ITU.
