Turkiye to lead Poland’s MSPO Expo 2022
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, former Warshaw pact countries decided to increase their defence budgets. This increase indicates that the transformation from Warsaw Pact to the NATO Pact system will also speed up. Turkiye, this year, decided to lead this process.
According to the MSPO’s press release, Turkey will be the Lead Nation at this year’s International Defence Industry Exhibition. Turkey also organised the first National Exhibition during the MSPO in 2013.
At that time, Turkiye’s presence was related to the celebration of the 90th Anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the Turkish Republic and the Republic of Poland and the 600th Anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Poland and the Ottoman Empire in 2014.
In an official letter to his Polish counterpart Mariusz Bazczak, Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar emphasised the importance of defence industry events. He assured that many companies from this economic sector would participate in the Turkish pavilion at MSPO 2022.
This year marks the 30th Anniversary of MSPO. According to the organisers, MSPO is the third largest exhibition in Europe, trailing only the Paris and London trade shows. The MSPO will be held from September 6 to 9, 2022.
Poland has ordered TB2 armed UAVs from Baykar. The UAVs are widely used in Ukraine against the ongoing war with Russia.
