Turkish Meteksan and Unidef Unified their Power for Area Control
Ankara based engineering company Meteksan Defence and Istanbul based engineering firm for weapon integration solutions UNIDEF cooperated in a new concept.
Meteksan Defence International Sales, Marketing and Corporate Reputation Director Burak Akbaş released a video from his social media account to present the new concept. The new concept brings concepts together. Meteksan’s Retinar PTR-X microwave radar systems will perform surveillance duty at border control or critical area defence missions. Once the system detects intrusion, the precautions will be applied.
The main precaution to prevent the intrusion comes from Unidef. In the video, UNIDEF’s M134 minigun fires at the target.
TurDef has learned that Meteksan and UNIDEF prepared this project with their own financial resources. Meteksan provides the sensors and remote control units. The weapon aims to target autonomously. The system requires a man in the loop to open fire. UNIDEF provided the minigun for the trials, but it aims to install Canik’s 12.7 M2 machine gun in future.
Meteksan Defence will present the concept next week at Military Border and Radar Summit (MRBS).
Companies believe that self-sufficient systems with a man in the loop fire control systems will draw attention from Turkey and its allies.
