Turkiye has two separate air-to-air missile projects: Göktuğ and Gökhan. Göktuğ project consists of two air-to-to missile projects BVR Gökdoğan and WVR Bozdoğan. SAGE introduced the projects in 2017 with the same concept was different names. Gökdoğan was supposed to be WVR and Boğdoğan was named as BVR project. Turkish Air Force (TurAF) changed the names. Gökdoğan is similar to AIM-120, and Bozdoğan is similar to AIM-9 Sidewinder.
SAGE also carries out the Gökhan project. This missile has a ramjet engine with similar technical specs to Meteor.
Three F-16 Fighter Aircrafts affiliated with the 401st Test Squadron of the Air Force Command participated in the test carried out over the Black Sea.
During the test, an F-16 fired with the missile and guided
it towards the target with the radar on board. In the terminal phase, the
missile locked onto the target UAV with
its active radar seeker.
