"This problem (the procurement of the F-16V) is connected to the F-35 issue," President Erdoğan stated. We spent a total of $1 billion 400 million for F-35s. The United States presented a proposal. They must also reimburse the funds provided through the F-35 Program. This is something we talk about in our meetings."
Turkey has requested
40 F-16s from the United States. The bid also includes the delivery of
modification kits for 80 TAF F-16 aircraft.
The Turkish Air Force
Command presently has around 230 F-16 fighter planes in Block 30, Block 40,
Block 50, and Block 50+ variants in its inventory. Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) is
now conducting structural upgrades on F-16 Block 30 jets.
The 40 F-16s requested by Turkey are reported to be in Block 70 configuration. The shipment of 80 modernisation kits is expected to comprise F-16s in Block 40 configuration.
