TKMS Wants to Build New Submarines and Corvettes for Germany
According to Burkhard, TKMS will bid for the construction of at least two submarines, products of cooperation between Norway and Germany in the field, and the third batch of K130 corvettes (Braunschweig class). Finally, TKMS is interested in the program of the future F127 frigates of the German Navy (Bundesmarine).
In a policy shift after decades of attrition of Germany's armed forces, Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to sharply increase defence spending, including an initial 100 billion euro ($106 billion) fund. The German Navy plans to retire its three Sachsen-class air defence ships in the mid-2030s. The "Next Generation Frigate" will close this capability gap in order to implement Germany's NATO planning goals. These ships dubbed F 127s, provide additional options for meeting other NATO requirements for sea-based defence against ballistic and hypersonic missiles.
