The US Navy's Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) has declared Initial Operational Capability (IOC) for an unmanned surface platform for the first time.

The unmanned is a critical component of the US Navy's suite of mine countermeasure (MCM) technologies that can be operated from Littoral Combat Ships (LCS), shore, or Vessels of Opportunity (VoO).   The US Navy's unmanned surface platform is intended to provide acoustic and magnetic minesweeping.
