The Philippines to acquire combat engineering vehicles
The Philippines' Department of National Defence (DND) issued an Invitation to bid for the supply of new Combat Engineering Vehicles to the Philippine Army (PA). The procurement, with a budget of $3 million, would be done through public bidding, with the DND releasing information on the combat engineering vehicles' technical specifications. Bids are supposed to be submitted by October 14, 2022.
According to the technical specifications, the vehicle should be tracked, have a surface clearing device and a towed mine-clearing line charge system, weigh a maximum of 20 tons, be powered by a diesel engine, have a capacity of at least eight personnel, be fully amphibious, and meet specified armour protection.According to Philippine Defence Resource, the specifications favour the ASCOD tracked armoured vehicle, specifically the Spanish-made Pizarro II Castor sappers combat vehicle.The Philippines to acquire combat engineering vehicles
