According to Iraqi News Agency INA, Thales will supply Iraq with four GM403 long-range air defence radars under a contract that will include a command and operations centre. A company representative Emmanuel Younk Foy disclosed this during the groundbreaking ceremony for the operations centre. The second phase of the contract will involve the supply of 14 GM200 radars.


The French company revealed on Sunday that the contents of the contract concluded with Iraq regarding the radar system, while it disclosed the advantages of the GM403 radar.

 The representative of the French company Thales, Emmanuel Younk Foy, who attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the Air Defense Command Operations Center, said, "the program of the first phase includes providing Iraq with these radars, and later it will follow a second phase by equipping the same command with some 14 A GM200 radar, which will collectively form the main pillar of the Iraqi air defence capabilities in the future.
