Tawazun Economic Council (Tawazun) and Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase defence industry collaboration and share information and experience on industrial participation and offset programmes.


The event was attended by Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Bahraini Minister of Transport and Telecommunications; Matar Salem Al Dhaheri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Defence; and Tareq Abdulraheem Al Hosani, Chief Executive Officer of Tawazun.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Matar Ali Al Romaithi, Chief Economic Development Officer in Tawazun, and Rear Admiral Yusef Ahmed Malallah, Assistant Chief of Staff for Supply and Logistics the BDF.

According to the MoU, Tawazun and BDF will collaborate to generate synergies aligned with the strategic goals of the defence and security industries, as well as a single system for conducting industrial involvement programmes in the two nations.

The two parties will also find potential for cooperative initiatives in supply chain domains and research and development (R & R&D) sectors.

They will strengthen their collaboration by exchanging information and experience, making cross-country visits, and hosting industry-focused forums.

Al Romaithi stated that the MoU lays the door for future mutually beneficial collaboration, stating, "We will work together to exchange experience and know-how on the execution of the offset programmes."
