SSB President Demir said in sum, “Our defence and aviation industry sector turnover has exceeded the 10 billion dollar threshold in 2021 and has returned to pre-pandemic figures. The amount of new orders received by our industry increased by 40 per cent compared to the previous year and amounted to approximately 9 billion dollars. The R&D expenditures of our industry, on the other hand, increased by 32 per cent compared to the previous year and exceeded approximately 1 billion 600 million dollars. We aim to have these figures even higher by the end of this year.”
Demir stated that 20 years ago, only 62
defence projects were carried out. Today, this number is close to 800, and more
than half of these projects started in the last five years.
Demir also stated that the budget allocated to
projects has increased from 5.5 billion dollars to 60 billion dollars in 20
years.
