SSB announced: STM’S Boyga UAV Released MKE’s 81 mm Mortar

Turkish Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) released a video on social media where STM Defence company and Mechanical and Chemical Industry Incorporated Company MKE A.Ş. take place. STM’s Boyga released 81 mm mortar ammunition.

SSB President Professor İsmail Demir presented the Boyga UAV as an example of mini UAV developments. He said that such UAVs will take part in different tasks with new functions. He stated that “Boyga will drop 81 mm mortar ammunition on the target thanks to its improved ballistic estimation algorithm.”
STM Defence had unveiled its Boyga UAV at International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF).
STM’s Ammunition Drop UAV is a UAV solution that can carry 81 mm and 60 mm mortar ammunition adapted to the mechanism that releases the safety system, and can carry out the planned task and drop the payload on the target or coordinate it chooses.
It has an algorithm that calculates how mortar ammunition would reach the designated target. It performs a task at the level of “Man-in-the-loop” (where the user is in the loop) by following the target selected by the user from the screen image with image processing algorithms. With a maximum take-off weight of 15.6 kg, BOYGA has an endurance of 35 minutes with one 81 mm mortar ammunition.

Munition system integration was carried out in cooperation with MKE.
MKE has gained its new name and entity recently. It was formerly The Machinery and Chemical Industry Institution working only for the defence ministry. The corporate is now a subordinate of the National Defence and it functions as a private company.
The STM Defence was established in 1991 by the decree of the Defence Industry Executive Committee to provide project management, system engineering, technology transfer, technical and logistical support, and consultancy services to the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) in areas that require high technology for the sake of national security.
