According to an article published in The New York Times, an invisible war exists in cyberspace. Microsoft Threat Intelligence Centre named malware “FoxBlade” aims at Ukraine government ministries and financial institutions. The information was passed to US Government.

The daily states that the White House, briefed by the National Security Agency and United States Cyber Command, oversees Russia’s cyber offensive plans while Microsoft’s virus detection systems were updated to block the code to erase the data on computers in a network. The company was also asked to share the details of the code with the Baltics, Poland and other European nations to prevent the spread beyond Ukraine’s borders.
