Alexei Krivoruchko,
Russia's Deputy Defence Minister, visited the Uralvagonzavod defence facility
in Nizhny Tagil on Friday to inspect the production of the T-14 Armata and T-90
Proryv main battle tanks.
During his tour,
Krivoruchko met with key authorities to discuss the development of the Armata
and Proryv for Russian ground forces.
"Twenty T-14
tanks based on the Armata heavy multiservice tracking platform are scheduled to
be delivered by the end of 2021," said Repin, who also serves as the
company's military agent.
It went on to say that, under the conditions of the state contract, serial deliveries of this armoured fighting vehicle would be completed before the end of state trials.
"Right now, the effort
is being done to build a prototype batch before the end of state trials to
obtain operational evaluation experience in the military," Repin added.
Repin didn't say which
units would get the Armata tanks. This, he stated, will be decided by the
Ministry of Defence's Department of Automotive and Main Armour.
Furthermore, the Armata base was designed for infantry fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, and various other armoured vehicles.
On May 9, 2015, the
T-14 Armata was unveiled to the public at the Red Square Victory Day Parade for
the first time.
The vehicle is
outfitted with totally digital technology, an unmanned turret, and an armoured
capsule for the tank crew.
