Russian state owned TASS news agency stated that the Su-34 bomber’s Electronic Warfare (EW) system would be upgraded due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. TASS noted the case as “Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.”

The Khibiny EW system mounted on the Su-34 frontline bomber will be upgraded to minimize the pilot’s role so that the operation will become more automated.

TASS has no official confirmation of this information yet.

The Khibiny is an airborne electronic warfare system. Russia uses the Khibiny EW suite to turn its aircraft invisible to enemy radars. The EW suite can generate decoy jamming and breach enemy multi-layered air defences.
