After arriving in Dubai, Moon attended a business roundtable on hydrogen partnership with economic leaders and energy officials in the UAE and called for cooperation in eco-friendly technologies between the two countries. Korean President Moon agreed to sell the UAE Cheongung II midrange surface-to-air missiles during the visit to UAE. Defence Acquisition Program Administration chief Kang Eun-ho told reporters that the two sides committed to expanding ties between their defence industries after the contract, which will involve LIG Nex1 Co., Hanwha Systems Co. and Hanwha Defence Systems Corp.

According to a person familiar with the discussions, the deal was valued at an estimated $3.5 billion. The Yonhap News Agency also reported the figure.

Moon held talks with UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and discussed the economy, trade, defence, infrastructure, climate change, and culture. The two sides also discussed cooperation in hydrogen, space, desert agriculture and seawater desalination.

The UAE notably signed a deal to purchase Korea's mid-range surface-to-air missiles to indicate bolstering defence cooperation.

Moon had been programmed to hold talks with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the de facto ruler of the UAE Monday, on the sidelines of the sustainability summit. However, the talks were called off last minute upon the request of the UAE. Moon's eight-day Middle East tour will also take him to Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
