According to the statement made by the Presidency’s Director of Communications, the request of Sweden and Finland to join NATO was discussed during the meeting.


During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey's security concerns regarding Sweden and Finland's membership requests are based on just and legitimate grounds.
President Erdoğan emphasised that both countries should clarify that they have stopped supporting terrorism, lifted the sanctions against Turkey, and are ready to show alliance solidarity.
NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg underlined the need to meet the expectations of Turkey, an important NATO ally.
