Turkish
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani President Arif Alvi, Vice
President Fuat Oktay attended to the ceremony which
coincided the day after Pakistan's 14 August Independence Celebrations.
Two of the
MİLGEM corvettes will be built at the Istanbul Shipyard Command and the other
two at the Pakistan Karachi Shipyard. First two corvettes built at two
shipyards will join the Pakistan Navy inventory in 2023. Remaining other two
ships are planned to enter the inventory by 2024. According to the order in the
project, the first and second ships will be built in Turkey, while the third
and fourth ships will be built in Pakistan. According to the order of
construction, the first and third ships will be built in Turkey, and the second
and fourth ships will be built in Pakistan.
Compared to
the Ada Class Corvettes in the Turkish Navy inventory, it is seen that the
width of the ship remains same, but the Pakistan ship is approximately 10
meters longer, the displacement is 526 tons more, and the draft is 15 centimetres
deeper.
