Since Russia started using Iranian drones to attack Ukraine, there has been an ongoing claim about using U.S. content on drones. One of the Iranian-made drones that crashed in an attack on Ukraine was found to contain components made in the United States. More than a dozen U.S. companies make the components. This is the result of an assessment by the Ukrainian intelligence team CNN revealed.

The assessment was reported to the White House at the end of last year. U.S. President Joe Biden previously promised to stop the production of Iranian drones.

CNN added that the White House has set up a government-wide task force to investigate how U.S. and Western-made technology, ranging from minor equipment such as semiconductors and GPS modules to more significant parts such as engines, could be used in Iranian drones.

So far, for years, the U.S. has imposed strict export control restrictions and sanctions to prevent Iran from acquiring high-end ingredients. It is suspected that third-party distributors have bought U.S. products and resold them to Iran. There is no evidence to suggest that component manufacturers have violated U.S. sanctions laws by knowingly exporting their technology for use in Iranian drones.
