The BAE Systems and PTC Industries of India have secured an agreement for 155 mm M777A2 Ultra-Lightweight Howitzers of the Indian Army. The signing took place in the production facility of PTC Industries, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. The contract aims to produce lightweight titanium castings of Indian M777 howitzers in the country. The first sub-components will be delivered by the end of 2022. PTC Industries will manufacture saddle, cradle and lower carriage for the M777A2 Ultra-Light howitzers.
The Prime Minister of India stated that this step is in line
with Made in India Programme. Duncan Stevenson, the General Manager of BAE
Systems Weapon System UK, said, “The production process at PTC Industries is
being developed and qualified to deliver the long-term support for the 145
M777s we are delivering to India.”
