Leonardo will prepare Pakistan’s Sea Sultans
Pakistan has hired an Italian defence company to convert three Embraer Lineage 1000 regional jetliners into long-range maritime patrol aircraft for its Navy.

The Pakistan Navy will use three aircraft in the Sea Sultan patrol aircraft program for maritime missions. The Navy has one Lineage 1000 in the inventory. The contract with the Italian company involves acquiring two aircraft and the design, modification, installation and integration of anti-submarine warfare and maritime patrol package to all three aircraft. Pakistan Navy is expected to enlarge the fleet to ten aircraft, replacing the country’s long-serving P-3C Orion fleet.

Under an additional contract, South Africa’s Paramount Group will handle the aircraft’s pre-conversion maintenance, repair, and overhaul.
