Leonardo’s press release shows that the company’s Marlin 40
naval remote weapon system will be integrated into two PC60 FAB currently under
construction at PT Caputra Mitra Sejati Shipyard. This order follows the
procurement in 2021 of four Marlin 40 systems for two PC60 vessels and two
Teluk Bintuni-class tank landing ships (LSTs).
The Marlin 40 turret is a digital system designed for anti-air and anti-surface defence missions. It has a range of more than four kilometres and is ITAR-free.
The Indonesian Navy chose an ILOS variant of the Marlin 40, a
precision-fire system that can operate autonomously via a local control
console. This combines and processes targeting data from the turret’s dedicated
electro-optical system, external fire control systems, and ship data, ensuring
precision while incorporating redundancy. The electro-optical director can
rotate independently of the line of fire to provide panoramic surveillance
using a high-precision sensor suite that includes a daylight camera, an
infrared (IR) camera, and a laser range finder.
