President of the Republic of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, published information about domestic military engine studies. BMC Vuran is has Cummins on board. It will be replaced with an indigenous engine. Another important milestone will be passed with this step.
Engine studies are seen as critical for the Turkish defence
industry's capability leap. It is known that the Turkiye is experiencing issues
with engine and propulsion system acquisition for platforms frequently. BMC
established a subsidiary, BMC Power, for domestic engine studies. The company
shared information about tactical armoured vehicle power systems recently.
400-HP engine completed 80,000 kilometres drive test. Another 600-HP power
plant, named Azra, also passed 45,000 kilometres of road tests.
