Greece Submits US Request for 38 F-16 Block 50 Modernisation

The Greek government is about to submit an application to the United States government to upgrade its 38 F-16 Block 50 capabilities. This effort is part of Athens' efforts to modernise the Hellenic Air Force (HAF).


According to local media, the modernisation of 38 F-16 Block 50 is planned to be carried out at Nea Anchialos Air Base. Meanwhile, at the same time, Greece also carried out an upgrade program to the F-16 Viper by the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (EAB).

For the older Block 30 F-16s, HAF will retain these aircraft, use them as trainers, and not sell them or give them away. The F-16 Block 30 will be used to train new pilots before they can crew the F-16 Block 52+ or F-16 Viper.
