Greece has deployed Israeli technology to jam the flight
capability of Turkish UAVs electronically. The jamming hopes to interfere with
UAV's existing flight plan stored in memory to disorient the UAV. The goal is
to "blind" threatening drones, preventing them from completing their
mission.
It is essentially a version of an anti-UAV system with
features similar to Israel's Drone Dome but tailored to the needs of Greece and
the geographical terrain of the islands and other border areas.
Details of the program
have been leaked in recent weeks, much to the government's chagrin, raising the
issue of classified information linked to friendly country cooperation and
infrastructure critical to national security.
The same newspaper previously wrote another exclusive news
on this subject in February 2022. In that news, there was information that
Turkish-made Armed UAVs threatened Greek security and that studies were
started. Accordingly, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting with
the Ministry of Defence on 20 December 2021. The news reported that the Greek
Air and Naval Forces recorded and mapped the pattern of Bayraktar TB2 and
Anka-S.
