Many European countries provided military aid packages, including weapons and protective equipment, in a united response against the Russian invasion attempt. Germany also helped the Ukrainian defenders.

The German Ministry of Defence announced a new military aid package to Ukraine. The latest batch includes one Iris-T SLM air defence system. As well as missiles, the German government decided to deliver 10 Pionierpanzer 2A1 Dachs armoured engineering vehicles and seven Heavy and Medium Bridge Systems.

Air defence systems are critical for the defenders because Ukraine’s most air defence umbrella has been destroyed. New systems will cover critical infrastructures against Russian military aircraft and cruise missiles. It is known that Ukraine relies heavily on such systems for cruise missile defence. Armoured engineering vehicles and bridges also ease river and gap crossings during operations.
