Demir participated in the seminar on “Defence and Space Technologies beyond
2023” organized as part of the 3rd International Productivity & Technology
Fair. Speaking at the event’s opening ceremony, Demir said, “In general, space
studies have scientific, peaceful and civilian purposes. All these studies
ultimately contribute to the field of defence, especially observation,
communication and other issues. In this respect, Roketsan reached space with
solid-fuel rocket engines. It reached an altitude of more than 150 kilometres, an
altitude where we can go even further. Today, we now have rockets to reach
space.”
Vice President of Defence Industries and Chairman of ULAK Communications
Board of Directors Dr Celal Sami Tüfekçi also spoke. Dr Tüfekçi emphasized the
importance of technology: “You cannot do everything. First, you must have the
technology, and then you can have it manufactured elsewhere. National
production provides employment, and national technology is instrumental in
increasing national income. We can increase Turkey’s national income, which is
currently around 10 thousand dollars, to 20 thousand dollars in the short term
with companies that produce value-added technology such as ULAK.”
ASELSAN, Chairman of the Board and General Manager Professor Haluk
Görgün, said, “We attach great importance to nationalization efforts within the
framework of our founding mission. We have had more than 750 products to
nationalize and get locally manufactured in the last three years. We have nationalized
over 400 products, and its contribution to our country’s economy has exceeded
150 million dollars.”
Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) CEO and General Manager Professor Temel Kotil
spoke about the GÖKBEY project: “As if we were a company that has been making
helicopters for 100 years, GÖKBEY flew without a problem. Now, we are preparing
for delivery to the Gendarmerie General Command. In this context, we will
deliver three helicopters in total within one year. “
