The contract, which
was negotiated by Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), the UK Ministry of
Defence’s procurement arm, will cover all of Britain’s military requirements.
They’ll be transported from the warehouse to the front lines with it. The
operations are expected to save the ministry £54 million.
Jeremy Quin, the
Minister of Defence Procurement, said it would also allow for the rapid
deployment of personnel and equipment as needed. Mr Quin explained that
Logistics Information Systems (LogIS) would support critical services such as
inventory, transportation, engineering, and general ledger management.
