American Boeing and Norwegian Nammo have announced that they have conducted a new test of the new 155 mm increased range ammunition with a Ramjet engine. The development program for the Ramjet motor munition began in 2019. The program aims to produce a munition with a range of over 100 kilometres.

A Ramjet propulsion system uses air as a compressor and can deliver a maximum velocity of Mach 3 for a period of 50 seconds from the moment the projectile exits the barrel.

The company is now working to integrate ramjet motors into missile and artillery systems. Ramjet motors may currently be fired from any L39 or L52/L58 artillery gun and have proven reliable for ignition and internal flight.
