Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) received its fourth C-130J Hercules transport according to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) – the media wing of the Bangladeshi military. The aircraft landed at the Bangabandhu Airbase in Dhaka on 20 February. Bangladesh has ordered five air lifters.

The five ex-RAF ‘short-bodied’ C-130Js were ordered in two batches – in 2018 and 2019 – to replace Bangladesh’s ageing, second-hand C-130Bs. The first aircraft was delivered in August 2019. They will be used to transport troops and equipment, both home and abroad, as well as provide humanitarian assistance and support UN peacekeeping missions.

During the ferry flight, the aircraft made a refuelling stop in Cairo and Muscat. BAF has planned to receive the remaining aircraft within this year from the UK.
