ASPILSAN Energy’s Ni-Cd type batteries are installed into the railway system for the first time. The batteries will power up the railway system in Samsun Metropol. ASPILSAN announced the development from its Instagram account.

Samsun Transportation Company SAMULAŞ owns 16 vehicle fleet.  This fleet is in use for public transportation. All foreign origin batteries used in the fleet are replaced with ASPİLSAN production batteries. There are 32 Ni-Cd type battery pack replaced.

ASPİLSAN’s founding purpose was to supply the Ni-Cd type battery pack demand of the Turkish Armed Forces.

The company benefitted from its experience Ni-Cd type battery technology used in aviation. New technology is implemented for railway systems. According to the announcement on Instagram,

“While the localization activity was carried out, a product with higher technology than the original equipment, low maintenance requirement and fully compatible with the vehicle’s drive system was created. The domestic design has superior features. It has a more comprehensive operating temperature range than the original product while it charges faster. It has low pure water consumption, no corrosive gas emission, longer life, and no need for electrolyte replacement not contain graphite. With this project, which is the first localization project realized on a fleet basis, foreign dependency was avoided in the supply of Ni-Cd type battery groups.”

ASPILSAN energy is currently investing in Lithium-Ion Battery. The groundbreaking ceremony of Turkey’s first Lithium-Ion Battery Manufacturing Facility took place at Kayseri in October 2020.

ASPILSAN Energy Inc, owned by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation by a %98 share, was first established on May 21, 1981, by the donations of locals of Kayseri province.
