A civil telecommunication station was integrated into the MALE class AKSUNGUR UAV platform. Turkish Aerospace’s (TUSAŞ) platform will provide communication to mobile phones over DataLink systems in case of disasters.
A new capability has been added to AKSUNGUR, Turkey’s first twin-engine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle in the MALE class. The platform has a payload capacity of 750 kg. This capacity will be assigned to the civilian base station integrated into the platform. A private telephone service provider company established its mobile data line into UAV. Aksungur, which serves intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, will also serve as a base station during disasters such as fire or earthquakes.
TUSAŞ General Manager Professor Temel Kotil said, “We brought a new dimension to end-to-end communication with the base station integrated into our AKSUNGUR. With this capability, which will allow uninterrupted mobile communication in disaster situations.”
AKSUNGUR, which can fly at an altitude of 40,000 feet, has a record of 50 hours of endurance. AKSUNGUR performed fire detection and surveillance tasks in Adana, and it serves in the inventory of the Naval Forces Command.
