The preliminary prototype ACV conducted Armoured Combat Vehicle (Zırhlı Muharebe Aracı / ZMA Modernization Project) road driving and firing tests. Turkish Land Forces have ACV-15 in the inventory.


President of Defence Industries Professor İsmail Demir gave information on the latest developments within the scope of the project on his social media account.

Demir shared a video about vehicle driving and firing tests and said, "In the first stage of the project, 133 ACV vehicles will be equipped with modern weapon systems and high-tech mission equipment with local and indigenous solutions. The vehicles survivability will be significantly increased, and their service life will be extended.

ASELSAN is the main contractor at ACV Modernization Project. ASELSAN’s 25 mm NEFER Remote Controlled Weapon System (RCWS) Turret, Close Range Surveillance System, Driver's Vision System, Direction Finding and Navigation System, Commander, Gunner, Personnel and Driver Indicator Panels will be integrated into ACV-15s.

Within the scope of the project, the subcontractor FNSS will carry out the maintenance and repair activities of the vehicles and integrate the sub-systems of the Air Conditioning System, Heating System, Fire Extinguishing and Explosion Suppression System to the platforms.

In addition to the modern weapon systems and high-tech mission equipment to be integrated into the vehicles in the ACV Project, the Armour and Mine Protection levels of the vehicles will be increased, and the survivability and firepower of the ACV-15s on the battlefield will be significantly increased.

ASELSAN NEFER remote-controlled weapon station is developed primarily against armoured land targets. It can be mounted on 6x6 and 8x8 wheeled or tracked vehicles. It steps further by its indigenous design, which enables the integration of both NATO and Russian-origin weapons. Through its extensive surveillance and remote control capabilities, NEFER enhances situational awareness of the gunner.

There are nearly 2,650 FNSS-made ACVs and Improved Armoured Personnel Carrier (IAPC) currently serving in the Turkish Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the Philippines. Deliveries began in 1991, with the last of these vehicles being delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in 2004. The ACV and IAPC, which can operate independently or together with tanks, still constitute the backbone of Turkish infantry forces.
